Introducing Fruiting Body Upicycle Project!

Hi everyone,
I am so excited to announce that the upcyling project I have been working on with my sister in law Taylor (aka SweetTeaRex) is finally ready to be released to the world!

Fruiting Body is the labor of love between two artists who share a passion for fabulous clothes and not contributing to more waste.
The muse behind our design, the red thread, is a concept in Chinese mythology that we are all linked by invisible red lines and they represent our connections and fate lines.
Our story began with me admiring Taylor’s ability to create anything from scratch, especially with fabrics, ( 🗣️she is an incredible seamstress!) we started dreaming up these garment that tickle our fancy and how we can create them without adding more to this world of excess waste.
Fast forward I am back in Taipei for my annual homecoming, in the Yung Le fabric market we found this auntie who has been in embroidery for decades and had seen the industry’s rise and fall. It became clear that including local Taiwanese craftsmanship in this project is an essential ingredient.
With true slow fashion ethos, we took our time to find the right shirts and when inspiration strikes, just like fungi when the conditions are right, each of these pieces came into being of their own fruiting bodies!
